TEMPO.CO, Bandung – The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, Whoosh, was forced to delay several trips on Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2024. The Whoosh company, PT Indonesia China High-Speed Train or KCIC, confirmed that the delay was due to bad weather and a weak tornado that caused a foreign object to fall on the track between Padalarang and Tegalluar Summarecon stations.

KCIC Corporate Secretary, Eva Chairunisa, stated that her team had to evacuate a zinc roofing sheet from a resident’s house that fell on the Whoosh railway track at KM 118+500 due to strong winds. The company explained that the foreign object fell onto the track due to bad weather in the area. Until 14:40, officials were still ensuring the safety of the entire track.

“To ensure the safety of the journey, officials are currently conducting thorough inspections,” Eva said in an official statement.

Based on Tempo’s observation at the Padalarang high-speed train station in West Bandung Regency, passengers were crowding into the waiting area. All seats were occupied and there was a crowd in front of the entrance to the platforms.

Several delayed trips include the route from Tegalluar Summarecon Station to Halim Station. Train number G1234, which was scheduled to depart at 14:18, was delayed to 14:48 and then further delayed to 15:20.

Trains number G1232, G1274, G1276 and G1233 were also delayed. KCIC urged passengers in the station to continue monitoring the departure announcement boards.
