TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Prabowo Subianto embarked on his first state visit to five countries, beginning on Friday, November 8, 2024. His itinerary includes visits to China, the United States, Peru, Brazil, and England.

Accompanying President Prabowo on this working visit are Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. The President is scheduled to be abroad for two weeks.

In accordance with established protocols, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will assume governmental responsibilities during the President’s absence. Prabowo has assured that he has provided clear instructions to Gibran and his cabinet ministers before his departure.

“I trust in the capability of the Vice President and the Merah Putih Cabinet to effectively manage the government’s affairs,” Prabowo said in a video message released by the Presidential Secretariat on Friday.

In his directives, Prabowo emphasized the importance of decisive yet prudent action. He explicitly prohibited any political considerations in the execution of government duties.

“This campaign must be firm, courageous, but its efforts must also be free from political motives and grudges,” he declared.

The first stop on the President’s itinerary is China. In Beijing, he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the latter’s invitation.

Following his Beijing visit, Prabowo will travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden. Additionally, he is scheduled to attend two summits in South America: the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Peru and the G-20 Summit in Brazil. The President’s final destination is England, where he will meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
