Prabowo Arrives in Washington DC After Completing Beijing Visit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington DC, the United States, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at around 16:00 local time. Prabowo immediately departed to Uncle Sam’s Country after completing his visit from Beijing, China.
Prabowo’s arrival in Washington DC was welcomed by Acting Chief of Protocol of the United States Ethan Rosenzweig, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, KUAI KBRI Washington DC Ida Bagus Made Bimantara, Defense Attach of KBRI Washington DC Air Marshal TNI Wisoko Aribowo, and Korfung Protkons KBRI Washington DC Gustaav Ferdinandus.
The Presidential Secretariat, through a written statement, mentioned that an honor guard also welcomed and accompanied Prabowo to the vehicle. From the airport, the Chairman of the Gerindra Party and his entourage immediately went to the hotel where he would stay during his visit in Washington DC. The Indonesian diaspora who had been waiting in front of the hotel where Prabowo stayed gave a warm welcome.
Prabowo is scheduled to have several meetings in Washington DC, including with U.S. President Joe Biden. The meeting is planned to be held at the White House on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Prior to that, Prabowo departed from Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing, to Washington DC. During his time in Beijing, President Prabowo had meetings with President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji.
On the last day of his visit to Beijing, Prabowo met with businessmen from China. On that occasion, several memorandums of understanding showing the commitment of Indonesia and China to expand investments in various sectors were also signed. However, the Palace, through its statement, did not specify which documents were referred to.
Prabowo expressed Indonesia’s commitment to create an investor-friendly investment climate by providing facilities and support for investors. “And we will work hard to provide a good atmosphere, adequate facilities, and a warm welcome for our brothers and sisters from China,” he said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied President Prabowo on his visit to the United States.
