Prabowo Arrives in China, Will Meet Xi Jinping Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto and his entourage arrived in Beijing, China on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 6:30 pm local time. Prabowo was scheduled to hold several meetings with Chinese state officials today, Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Foreign Minister Sugiono said the president would begin his state visit in Beijing, China. He said that Prabowo would begin with a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, Zhao Leji.
Prabowo will continue with a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang. Sugiono said the head of state would also visit one of the historical monuments in Beijing, Tiananmen Square, to lay a wreath.
“And later this evening, there will be a bilateral meeting between Pak President and President Xi Jinping, followed by a state dinner,” Sugiono said, as quoted from a video statement by the Presidential Secretariat on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
During his visit to China, Prabowo was accompanied by his ministers which include Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Deputy Defense Minister Doni Hermawan, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Stella Christie, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal TNI M. Tonny Harjono and Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali.
