TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto gave directives to regional heads across Indonesia in a closed session within a coordination meeting between the central government and the regional leadership coordination forum, or Forkopimda, in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Prabowo said the meeting with regional heads and decision-makers of all governance levels will determine the nation’s direction for the next few years.
“I highly appreciate this forum since it’s practically my first opportunity to speak with all decision-makers in our republic. I believe this is a highly beneficial and strategic moment,” said Prabowo.
Media were only allowed to take pictures but could not fully listen to Prabowo’s presentation. In his directives today, Prabowo will convey the key points previously delivered in his inaugural speech at the MPR Building on October 20.
The coordination meeting today was attended by Forkopimda members across Indonesia, as well as seven coordinating ministers in Prabowo’s cabinet. The National Economic Council chief, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, was also seen greeting Prabowo among the coordinating ministers.
Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said the meeting aims to harmonize the local governments, Forkopimda, and vertical institutions to support Prabowo’s priority programs and policy directions.
This coordination meeting was divided into several panels. Media was allowed in the first panel on efficient governance, with sessions led by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, the Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra, and the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, held before President Prabowo’s closed directives session.
The second panel discussed the national policy toward 2045 Golden Indonesia, while the third panel and fourth panel discussed government recovery programs and the regional elections, respectively.
