President Prabowo’s First Foreign Visit to 5 Countries

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto begins his first state visit today, Friday, November 8, 2024. Prabowo is expected to visit China, the United States, Peru, Brazil, and England during his official visit.
The head of state has received invitations to meet with several heads of state during this state visit.
Attending Invitations from Xi Jinping and Joe Biden
Prabowo will attend the invitations of Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden. Prabowo will also attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru and the G-20 summit in Brazil. During his visit, the Indonesian president will also meet with the Prime Minister of England.
He said that this state visit shows that Indonesia is a respected nation.
“Indonesia is considered necessary to be invited and hold bilateral and multilateral meetings,” Prabowo said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube on Friday, November 8, 2024.
According to the president, Indonesia’s stance on important global issues is highly anticipated by many nations. Therefore, Prabowo said he would maintain good relations with all friendly countries.
Visit to the Middle East
Prabowo revealed his plans to visit several Middle Eastern countries on his way back from the state visit.
“I may stop in several countries in the Middle East on my way back to Indonesia,” he said.
Prabowo did not elaborate on his additional travel plans. He also did not mention which countries in the Middle East he would visit.
Accompanied by the Foreign Minister and State Secretary
During his inaugural visit, Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and State Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who flew on the Indonesian presidential plane from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta on Friday morning, November 8, 2024.
Earlier, Prabowo said he would bring the nation’s interest in his visits to attend meetings and invitations in several countries.
“So these things (foreign visits) cannot be avoided because all of them have strategic value, also related to our economic situation,” he said in his speech in the plenary cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
The head of state acknowledged the need to participate in forums and invitations, as Indonesia must be involved in every forum for negotiations.
According to Prabowo, Indonesia must explore existing potentials and resolve crucial and strategic issues with these groups of countries, which can be said to be very important economic blocs that are crucial for the sustainability of the Indonesian economy.
According to the regulations, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will perform governmental duties during the President’s activities abroad.
