TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized that Indonesia’s position on global economic issues and geopolitical conditions is highly anticipated by many nations. “I believe Indonesia’s role, Indonesia’s stance, is eagerly awaited by many parties,” he stated, as cited from the Presidential Secretariat on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Today, Prabowo embarked on a two-week, five-nation visit. He will first attend an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. Subsequently, he will accept an invitation from U.S. President Joe Biden.

Furthermore, he will travel to the UK to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The 8th Indonesian President is also scheduled to participate in two significant forums in South America: the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Peru and the G-20 Summit in Brazil.

According to him, these invitations are a testament to Indonesia’s growing global stature. He underscored the importance of attending these events to discuss crucial issues such as economics and geopolitics.

He explained his rationale for accepting invitations from friendly countries early in his term. He expressed his commitment to fostering strong relationships with all nations.

During his inaugural state visit, Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. He and his entourage departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Friday, November 8, 2024, aboard an Indonesian Republic aircraft.

As per the applicable regulations, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will assume the duties of the head of government while the President is abroad. Prabowo assured that he had provided clear instructions to Gibran and his cabinet ministers before his departure. “I trust the Vice President and the Merah Putih Cabinet to effectively manage government affairs [in my absence].”
